Sales KPIs: traffic, conversion and ticket

Operational KPIs: space, inventory and efficiency
Operational KPIs measure the efficiency of physical resources: available space, invested inventory and operational productivity. They are management indicators rather than direct sales metrics, but they have a direct impact on profitability.
Sales per square metre: measures the productivity of the physical space. It allows you to compare efficiency between locations of different sizes and evaluate whether the space layout is generating the expected return. Formula: total sales ÷ square metres.
Inventory turnover: number of times stock is replenished in a period. High turnover means merchandise is moving well. Low turnover means tied-up capital that puts pressure on cash flow.
GMROI (Gross Margin Return on Investment): return on inventory investment. It measures how many euros of gross margin each euro invested in merchandise generates. A GMROI below 1 indicates that inventory is destroying value. Formula: gross margin ÷ average inventory cost.
Sell-through rate: percentage of purchased inventory that was sold during the period. Particularly relevant in fashion and seasonal retail to assess whether buying volumes were appropriately sized.
